Elsa Pastor
Biography
Dr. Elsa Pastor is Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering of Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC). She develops her teaching and research activities in diverse fields related to wildfire management and technological risk analysis at the Centre for Technological Risk Studies (CERTEC).
Over the last 15 years she has studied several aspects of fire behaviour and dynamics by a multidisciplinary approach, combing both experimental and modelling techniques in a wide range of scenarios. She has profited from diverse fire environments (i.e. wildfires, wildfire research burning campaigns, outdoor large-scale industrial testing fields, laboratory set-ups, etc.) to observe, monitor and analyse flames and their effect to different types of assets and ecosystems. She makes the most of these experimental data by challenging computational resources to reproduce and predict the behaviour and the impact of fire in their different expressions.
She is also an enthusiastic lecturer with 12 years of teaching experience at UPC, devoted to the tremendous responsibility of raising new generations of engineers environmentally and ethically conscious and strongly committed to safety.
