Biography
Carla Staver is a professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at Princeton University in New Jersey, USA. She has a longstanding interest in savanna ecology, focusing on interactions between vegetation dynamics, herbivory and fire, and on processes influencing carbon stocks and sequestration. Her interest in savannas has led her to engage with fire management as a tool for ecosystem management and conservation, and to work towards a quantitative understanding of fire behaviour to improve how savanna fires are represented in models of Earth system responses to global change.
